Candidates are required to understand campaign finance, candidate filing, and campaign sign requirements.  

Campaign finance is the requirement for all individuals or entities, who establish political committees, to report contributions and expenditures under the North Carolina Campaign Reporting Act. During the candidate filing period, up-to-date candidate listings for ballots in Durham County and Notice of Candidacy forms for local candidates will be provided. Additionally, candidates who run for office must understand local requirements for campaign signs.
